Review: Thee Tee Pees, You’re A Turd 7” (Bachelor)
Fifty years ago, in the early 90’s, a band called the Mummies introduced the concept of ‘Budget Rock’ to the world. It was brand of music so crude, so offensive that even the band themselves didn’t want to spend money on it, and it was the greatest thing ever to happen to planet Earth.
Thee Tee Pees hail from the Mummies homeland of California and sound like they have been taking more than a few cues from the Mummies in this farfisa-fuelled slice of idiotic gunk punk. It’s perfect. It sounds like it was recorded on a dictaphone in whatever dank corner of So-Cal these cats call home and in less than two minutes it will change the way you feel about rock music altogether.
No, scratch that. If you are thinking while listening to this record you are missing the point. Put the needle down and freak out!
